Arkansas Recruiting: Football and Basketball Recruits to Visit for Auburn Game

Arkansas will host six official football recruits and two official basketball recruits this weekend when No. 10 Arkansas plays No. 15 Auburn.

Four-star running back Jonathan Williams (5’ 11”, 205 lbs) of Allen, Texas, is listed as the 27th best player in the state of Texas and the 13th best running back in the nation. He rushed for 2,078 yards with 19 touchdowns as a junior. His senior season has been hampered by a back injury.

Williams is taking an official visit even though he is committed to Missouri. Williams committed to the Tigers on March 16.

Bryce Cottrell of Plano West High School in Dallas, Texas, has his two final schools narrowed down to Arkansas and Oregon. Cottrell is a linebacker, reported to be 6’ 3”, 230 pounds, but could play defensive end in college.

Cottrell is a three-star recruit that has been ignored by most of the power schools in Texas even though he has fifteen offers from universities around the nation. He is ranked as the 88th best player in the state of Texas and the 45th best linebacker in the nation.

As a junior Cottrell had 80 tackles, seven sacks, one interception, and one fumble recovery.

Oregon will host him next weekend when the Ducks face Arizona State.

A third recruit from the state of Texas is scheduled to make the trip this weekend, Manvel defensive end Taiwan Johnson.

Johnson (6’ 3”, 240 lbs) is listed as the 56th best player in the state of Texas and the 28th best defensive end in the nation. His visit to Arkansas will be his first official visit. He has no other reported visits listed to date.

Other schools that have offered him include: Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Arizona, Arizona State, SMU, Boise State, and West Virginia.

Chris Klenakis is listed as Johnson’s top recruiter.

Offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley (6’ 7”, 285 lbs) of Las Vegas Bishop Gorman high school in Nevada, a four-star recruit, has been offered by 20 schools including Arkansas. Among the other schools that have offered Stanley include Auburn, Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame, Oregon, UCLA, and USC.

Stanley’s visit to Arkansas will be his first official visit. He has a recruiting trip scheduled for Notre Dame on October 21. Arkansas offensive line coach Kris Cinkovich is listed as Stanley’s lead recruiter.

Stanley is the top player in Nevada and one of only two 4-star players in the state.

Arkansas commitment Ray Buchanan Jr. (5’ 11”, 176 lbs) will make his first visit to Arkansas’ campus this weekend.

Buchanan is considered the 56th best player in the state of Georgia and the 61st best defensive back in the nation. The Peachtree Ridge senior (Suwanne, Georgia) has 4.47 speed in the 40 yard dash.

He committed to Arkansas on August 20.

Chris Bivins is another cornerback making the trip. Bivins (5’ 10”, 175 lbs) is a three-star recruit from Gainesville, Florida. He is committed to South Florida on June 25, but his commitment is considered a “soft verbal”.

Two more Arkansas recruits that have already committed will attend the game; Keon Hatcher and Jeremy Ward. Hatcher is rated the 14th best player in Oklahoma. Hatcher committed August 1, and is considered a “solid verbal”.

Offensive lineman Jeremy Ward of Pottsville, Arkansas, has earned a ranking of third best player in the state. He is the 26th best offensive guard in high school.

Arkansas men’s head basketball coach, Mike Anderson, will host Birmingham, Alabama forward JaCorey Williams and Garland, Texas center Prince Ibeh.

Ibeh, a 6’ 10” center, is considered the 54th best player in the nation and 10th best center. This will be his fourth official visit. He previously visited Texas, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt. He has Kansas listed as another offer but no recruiting trip has been scheduled.

Williams is listed as the 127th best player in the nation and the 25th best small forward. He has taken two recruiting trips, to Richmond and Alabama.
