Agreeing with Charlie Sheen!
Funny how time will allow certain people to speak the truth about their past steroid use… even Charlie Sheen. In an interview with Sports Illustrated about the iconic baseball classic “Major League”, Sheen went on record that he took steroids for 6 to 8 weeks to help him for the role. Sheen claims that he saw a 6 mph increase in his fastball from 79 to 85.
Charlie went on to say that steroids and his outlandish haircut did not mix well at bars during his shooting schedule for “Major League”. Sheen said, “I didn’t like the haircut because it generated so many comments in bars. I’ve got enough of that already. Add that to the mix and it’s a recipe for a fistfight.” No word if Dorn took PED to help him over his “matador” defense at third. Too bad our sports heroes don’t come clean about their possible PED or steroid use.
Sheen isn’t the first actor to use steroids or performance enhancing drugs for movie roles. Mickey Rourke was asked if he took steroids for the role of Randy ‘The Ram’ Robinson in the movie “The Wrestler”. Rourke was quoted saying, “I did what wrestler’s do”. In six months time Rourke went from 195 to 230 lbs of solid muscle. Rourke was nominated for an Academy Award for his portrayal of an aging professional wrestler; “The Wrestler" was released in 2008.
During a 2007 visit to Australia Sylvester Stallone was caught by customs officers with 48 vials of the human growth hormone, Jintropin. Stallone revived the ultimate ‘80’s action hero role of John Rambo in the movie “Rambo”, released in 2008. I don’t know if there’s a connection to the two events but…
