Criteria for College Football Hall of Fame Inductees (Players)

  1. Player must have received major first team All-American recognition
  2. Player becomes eligible for consideration by the Foundation’s Honors Court 10 years after his last year of college football.
  3. Player’s post career achievements must deem him a worthy citizen. Community activity, academic honors, and if the player earned a college degree or not are taken into consideration as well.
  4. Player must have played within the last 50 years.
  5. If applicable, said player cannot still be playing professional football to be considered.

Notre Dame (43), Michigan (29), and Southern California (28) have placed the most inductees into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Criteria for College Football Hall of Fame Inductees (Coaches)
Coach must prove himself a worthy citizen within his community and carries the ideals of football forward.
Inductee can become eligible after three years of retirement or immediately if over the age of 70.
Inductee must have been a head coach for ten years.
Inductee must have had a career .600 winning percentage or better with over 100 games coached.

The College Football Hall of Fame is located in South Bend, Indiana
