Football News

The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) has stripped University of Southern California of their 2004 National Championship after finding out the Reggie Bush was declared ineligible to play due to NCAA rules. Bush was found to receive improper benefits from boosters and agents during that season. Bush and USC have already given back both 2005 Heisman Trophies Bush had won before being found ineligible for the award.

The Trojans won the 2005 BCS Orange Bowl beating the Oklahoma Sooners 55-19. No team will be awarded the 2004 National Championship.

Is that a gun in your pants or are you happy to see me?

Pole dancers beware! NFL wide receiver Plaxico Burress, aka “Mr. Sweat Pants to the strip club”, is back. Burress was released today from jail after serving 20 months for carrying a fire arm into a nightclub and accidently shooting himself in the thigh when the gun came loose in his sweat pants. Burress last played with the New York Giants before his arrest. Burress was a Super Bowl hero in 2008 for the Giants after catching a 35 yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning to beat the previously unbeaten New England Patriots. 9 months later he was sentenced to two years in jail for the incident. Burress did not have a permit for the gun he was carrying when he shot himself.

I bet you know who Patti LaBelle is now!

Richard King, a junior cornerback at West Point, was severely beaten at the Houston airport March 11 when he was “too close” to R&B singer Patti LaBelle’s limo and luggage. King was talking on his cell phone arranging a ride home when LaBelle rolled down her window from the back of her limo and executed the order to her bodyguards to remove King from the area. King was pushed and hit in the face by two of her bodyguards, at one point falling into a concrete pillar. King tried to get up a couple of times on his own but had to be taken to a hospital on a stretcher. He received several staples on his head to close his wounds from their attack.

Because Patti’s space is so precious that she felt it necessary to have King attacked while she watched, due to West Point rules, King will be discharged from student status and is now on a list to be deployed into military action. He will not be able to finish his degree until his time has been served for our country in the U.S. Army. Because of his injuries, King will never be cleared to play football again. To his credit, King said, “I’m going to do whatever my country tells me to do. I’m going to give it my all.”

The altercation was caught on Houston security cameras. Even when Patti LaBelle posed for pictures with Houston police minutes after King was taken away in an ambulance. King is suing LaBelle over the injuries and incident.

King claims he had no idea who Patti LaBelle is, formerly of the 1960’s group Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles. This seems accurate since she has not had a hit song since her 1995 dance song, “Turn it Out”. If anyone remembers that? LaBelle recorded the majority of her successful records in the late ‘70’s and early ‘80’s… before King was born.
